New logo

Here is the new boogaboo logo!

logo!

This image is in a special image format called SVG. SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics. Unlike raster graphics (JPG, PNG, GIF), which form images by describing the colour of each pixel, vector graphics form images using mathematical lines and curves.

Benefits of vector graphics over raster graphics:

  • You can easily create and edit vector graphics in a text editors
  • Vector graphics files are almost always smaller than raster graphics files
  • You can zoom into vector graphics as much as you want without the image becoming blurry

An important characteristic of vector graphics is that an image will not become blurry no matter how much you zoom into it because the image viewing software can recalculate the mathematical curves as you zoom in. For example, in the image below, I zoom into both the PNG version and the SVG version of the new logo:

New theme

Minima is the default Jekyll theme. After using it for 3 months, I have switched to a new theme called Xixia. I find Xixia to look much more professional than Minima. You can find hundreds of free Jekyll themes at http://jekyllthemes.org/.

New email

I am now using a free custom-domain email service called Migadu. You can now contact me at me@boogaboo.ga.
